The site contains RealAudio/RealMedia, Flash, MIDI, older Java components and pages using several historical character encodings. Those originals should not simply be discarded because today's browsers no longer understand them.
Where practical, older audio, video and documents can later receive modern browser-friendly copies while the historical originals remain preserved. This separates access from preservation.
A photograph is strongest when we preserve its date, place, people, source and context. The Peremozhne material is our model: image, inscription, testimony, chronology and video can reinforce one another.
