A website begun in 1996 has itself become part of the historical record.
LEMKO.org was established on September 5, 1996. Over the years it grew from a hand-built website into a large digital repository of Lemko history, photographs, documents, maps, genealogy, language material, scholarship and community memory.
The remaster begun in 2026 gives visitors a modern entrance while deliberately preserving the older archive underneath. Long-standing URLs remain useful, original files are retained, and older pages are modernized only where doing so adds value without damaging their historical content.
The site goes online during the early public-Web era.
Thousands of pages, photographs, publications, recordings and documents accumulate across changing generations of web technology.
The homepage and major section entrances are remastered for modern computers and phones while the historical archive remains intact.
LEMKO.org remains the historical and cultural archive. LemkoHUB is the current home for music and audiovisual presentation.
