St. Demetrius, the Great Martyr


Biltsarewa and all the surrounding countryside was the property of one of the Polish nobles. In 1772, it became the property of the Austrian state which sold it to a German banker Hosh. The villagers of Biltsarewa, under the leadership of Rev. Kachmaryk, bought their lands from the estate of Mr. Hosh for 36,000 korons. Prior to the expulsion of Ukrainians, the tserkva served more than 600 faithful, today the tserkva is used by Polish Roman Catholics. BIL'TSAREVA
